Reasons For Snoring - Which of These Reasons Applies to You?

Having a problem with snoring? There are many reasons for snoring, some are benign but some reasons are the result of a more serious medical issue. Which of these reasons applies to you?

Snoring is a problem that often impacts not only the person snoring but also the person who shares a bed with someone who snores. Both parties get a horrible night's sleep. In fact, many couples have to split up at night or make alternate arrangements in order to make it through the night. One couple can only sleep together if the wife goes to bed first so that she will be less likely to be disturbed by the husband's snoring once he gets in bed.

That's a horrible way to spend the evenings. Remember the days when you would sleep curled up together? Now, you're lucky if you can sleep in the same bed while one person shoves the other all night, trying to make them roll over and end the snoring.

All snoring is the cause of some type of restricted pathway in the nose, mouth or throat. Either your tongue, the soft palate towards the back of the roof of your mouth, nasal passages or the inside of your throat are somehow being constricted. You can reduce or eliminate snoring by addressing the reason that applies to you.

The reasons for snoring can be separated into two categories. The first are primary reasons for snoring and most can be resolved with relative ease. The second category are the types of snoring that is caused by some other medical condition. Snoring in those cases is a symptom of something other health issue that needs to be resolved. Most sufferers fall in the first category.

Reasons for Snoring:

Being overweight

Muscles in your airway have weakened with age

Enlarged tonsils or adenoids

Naturally narrow respiratory structure

Drinking alcohol before bed

Eating or drinking dairy products before bed

The second category includes the three types of sleep apnea. Those with sleep apnea may stop breathing for short periods of time throughout the night in between bouts of snoring. The medical risks of sleep apnea can be serious. A doctor can help diagnose the existence of sleep apnea through various tests and studies.

Regardless of the cause, most reasons for snoring can be fixed. If you want that snore to stop, find the reason and apply a solution specific to your situation.

Yoga For Insomnia - Relax and Exercise Your Way to Better Sleep

You might think that sleeping pills or cutting back on coffee are the only ways to get rid of insomnia. However, yoga for insomnia can be highly effective. There are several reasons for this and a variety of yoga exercises you can do. Yoga has been around for a long time and is a great way to relax and get exercise. Using these benefits to treat insomnia is a natural extension of this popular practice.

Using yoga for insomnia can help you sleep better by teaching you how to relax. Being able to calm and center yourself has a major impact on your mind and body. With your brain being in a more relaxed state, you'll be able to fall asleep faster and easier. Yoga also helps you clear your mind so that you don't have a lot of cluttered thoughts and worries crowding your brain. By being able to relax and get rid of stress, you'll find yourself feeling much more at peace at night, leading to uninterrupted sleep.

Although yoga can focus on calm and relaxation, there are more vigorous forms that can have the same effect on your brain and body. Yoga for insomnia works just as well whether you work on relaxing or do power yoga. Certain forms, such as Ashtanga, will give you a high intensity workout that will get your heart pumping. These forms of yoga have the same benefits as regular exercise. You'll be able to get rid of any tension or stress you're feeling through this physical activity. Vigorous forms of yoga should be done early in the day so that they don't prevent you from falling asleep at night.

It has also been claimed that people who practice yoga do not need as much sleep as those who don't. This can provide some relief for those who have trouble staying asleep and are worried about getting enough sleep. By learning yoga, you will not only be able to improve the quality of your sleep, you could also need less of it in the long run. Your body will feel refreshed and able to function normally, especially since you won't have to stress over the amount of sleep you get.

Yoga for insomnia has several advantages over other forms of treatment, especially sleeping pills. However, not everyone has the time or inclination to study this ancient practice. Some people might not be comfortable with certain yoga exercises or might have trouble using yoga to clear their minds or relax their bodies. Fortunately, there are other ways to achieve relief from insomnia that don't require as much effort or time. Some forms of brain entrainment, a method of treating insomnia that is growing in popularity, can give you more immediate results.

Free Stop Snoring Info Here!

Snoring is an awkward sound which is often made while sleeping. It is usually caused by an obstruction in the airways causing a disruption in the flow of air through the air passage.

As the number of individuals who have to stay awake all night due to nuisance a snoring partner causes and suffer from drowsiness, body weakness, lack of focus and other sleep related issues increase, there are also several options springing forth to help put an end to snoring permanently and start to enjoy the benefits of having a wonderful night sleep.

Here is a free stop snoring info containing some great tips to try out before spending your hard earned cash on buying into programs and pills that might not work for you.

Info 1 - always exercise regularly. Being over weight is a major cause of snoring and regular exercise will help you cut down on excess fats and maybe this alone could even help you stop snoring or reduce it to the barest minimum. Consistency is a very important key here.

Info 2 - quit or cut down on your alcohol consumption. Alcohol relaxes or weakens the muscles around the neck region and this causes and obstruction in the free passage of air through the airways which leads to snoring.

Info 3 - change your sleeping position. Sometimes the position of sleep causes an obstruction in the passage of air. Try sleeping on your side as this allows free flow of air through your nostrils without any obstruction and this could help stop snoring.

Info 4 - quit smoking. Cigarettes often contain a chemical which irritates the tissues around the neck and cause a reasonable obstruction in the air passage which results to snoring. A reduction in the quantity of cigarette intake could help greatly in reducing snoring.

Info 5 - avoid eating late at night before bed time. Eating at night does nit often help as it poses an amount of pressure on the diaphragm as a result of undigested food in the stomach.

The above five keys are keys that will help stop snoring arising from a number of reasons as stated above without going to see a medical doctor or visiting a health centre. In severe cases of snoring it is recommended that you pay a visit to a medical personnel for proper medical check up as snoring is sometimes a signal of even bigger health issues.

I hope this free stop snoring info will help you in your quest to stop snoring as this is my goal of writing this piece.

The Fastest Working Diet Pill

I have searched many years for a diet pill that actually works.  All diet pills have their draw backs.  Some give you jitters, some make you really grouchy, some are really expensive, the list goes on and on.  There is currently a diet pill on the market that may have draw backs, but it may actually work.

I am referring to a diet pill called Lipodrene.  I am currently reviewing the product by which I mean I am currently taking it.  I must say that is actually working.  I take 2 pills in the morning and 1 pill at lunch.  The earlier you take the last pill the better.  It doesn't rev you up where you can't sleep, but that may get more lax the later you take it.  I have noticed quit a few pluses for the product.  It is relatively inexpensive.  A bottle will last you about a month.  Which is not bad, especially if you are planning on going to a doctor to get prescribed diet pills.  This cuts out the doctor fee at the very least.  Another plus of Lipodrene is as I mentioned before, it does not cause jitters.  If you follow the label and eat when it tells you to, it is likely you will avoid that side effect.

I have also noticed that my appetite has decreased and I have more energy.  I am able to focus on weight loss better than before.  I feel like I am able to say "no" to fatty foods and "yes" to healthier options.  I have always been the type of person that would go ahead and eat the fatty foods when they were placed in front of me.  Now it seems easier to say "no".  The best part of the product is that it works really fast.  I have lost about 15 pounds in as little as 2 months!  I think that is pretty amazing.  I do have to say that I have been exercising and running to increase these odds.  I have also been eating healthy.  Those two things are key to any diet.  There is no actual magic pill.

Now for the downside of this product.  The taste is kind of gross, so make sure you drink plenty of water when taking the pill.  Also, because of the decreased appetite sometimes I forget to take the 2nd dose.  I have usually remembered by 2:00 at the latest.  This has still never interrupted my sleep habits though.

I would definitely recommend this product to anyone who is serious about losing unwanted weight.

Insomnia in Teenagers - A Growing Problem

Maybe it's a new thing, or maybe we're just starting to see it, but insomnia in teenagers is being reported with increasing frequency. Doctors acknowledge that it's a real problem for some teenagers these days, just being unable to sleep at night.

What causes insomnia in teenagers?

There's certainly the lifestyle that teenagers adopt, which is probably the same as it always used to be. They stay up late at night, especially on the weekend, and then are unable to get up early during the week. It's not uncommon for them to sleep at lunchtime or immediately after school, which makes the problem of not being able to sleep at night worse. They also end up sleeping most of the weekend to try and make up for all the sleep they lost during the week. It's a bit of a vicious circle.

The danger is that this can become a pattern, almost like jet lag, where your cycle of sleep adjusts itself completely out of context and your body tries to tell you it's time to go to sleep, when in fact it's not at all. It can take weeks for a teenager to get back into the right sleep habits and recover from insomnia. The problem is that there is never enough time in between weekends for a proper sleep pattern to be formed.

Other common causes of insomnia in teenagers are anxiety and depression. It's a fact that many teenagers are having a struggle, with just about everything! It can be one of most difficult times of our lives, our adolescent years. Whether it's friends, family, school or acne, there's almost an unlimited number of reasons why a teenager could be anxious or depressed. Unavoidably, this is going to lead to sleep problems.

What can be done about insomnia in teenagers?

The answer is almost always the same, teenagers need to get into a regular routine with their sleep, in the same way that anyone else does. If we can establish a habit, most of the sleep problems will disappear.

Of course it may be that your teenager is suffering from other anxiety related conditions, in which case medical help should be sought. If the insomnia interferes with the ability of your teenager to function properly for more than a few days, take them along to see your doctor as soon as you can. if it's simply a matter getting to bed on time, insomnia in teenagers can be resolved fairly quickly and easily.

Insomnia Tips For the Desperate

Insomnia

We would all like to have a good night's sleep but for some of us that is an elusive dream. Difficulty in going to sleep and remaining asleep is one of the common conditions that affect us all at sometime in our lives.

Spending our days in a hectic rush and it takes time to unwind at the end of a busy day.

Encouraging a peaceful night's sleep is to have a routine that fits in with your life, eating at least three to four hours prior to bed time is essential. A meal close to bedtime can be very unsettling and uncomfortable.

The reason for this is that the digestive track needs time to thoroughly digest the meal reducing the likelihood of a heartburn or reflux that may interfere with comfort when laying down to sleep.

Many people laud the wonders of a hot bath with a cup of Epsom salts to relax and relieve strains of the body. The use of scented oils may help relieving some of the stress.

Perhaps a massage, with soothing oil such as lavender prior to bedtime would help. Other natural herbal remedies are chamomile tea, valerian taken in pill form.

Your ability to sleep begins when you get up in the morning either rested or shattered from the night you have just spent in bed.

Of course, if you have had bad nights sleep your mind will dwell on that and a vicious circle starts. Stress is such that even the little details of your day become too hard to manage.

It is essential in following your bedtime routine you spend the last hour relaxing before going to be bed. Taking time to unwind completely, in whatever manner you prefer.

After all tomorrow is another day!

Melatonin Sleep Aid for a Good Night's Sleep

Many people are suffering from short term or acute and chronic insomnia. In fact, 75% of the American population has been found to be suffering from various symptoms of this sleeping disorder. Many others are experiencing signs of other sleeping disorders. Still many are suffering from medical and health conditions which results to chronic pain and discomfort and make sleep impossible.

However, most of those feeling the signs and symptoms of insomnia are usually due to their hectic and stressful lifestyle coupled with unhealthy habits that do not promote good sleeping routines.

Many forms of natural and alternative treatments are being encouraged in people with insomnia. Some stick to prescription or over-the-counter sleep medications to help them have a good night's sleep.

It was sometime in the mid-1990 when melatonin sleep aid supplements were introduced and claimed to be effective in decreasing the amount of time required to fall asleep during bedtime. There were also claims that melatonin sleep aid has no side effects as compared to regular sleeping pills, which oftentimes become quite addictive and harmful to the well-being of a person during prolonged use.

It would be easy for us to jump into the bandwagon and check out if these overwhelmingly popular sleep inducing supplements are indeed true. Nevertheless, it is important to familiarize yourself about this first, before going ahead and purchasing a great number of it from the nearest drugstore.

Melatonin is a natural hormone created by our brain's pineal gland. This diminutive endocrine gland is located somewhere in the base of our brain. The major role being played by melatonin is the proper regulation of the circadian rhythm of our body. This is the internal clock in our body affecting our sleeping and waking routines.

Production of melatonin is encouraged by darkness and repressed by light, which earned its title "the hormone of darkness." As soon as a person's environment darkens, this hormone increases in production and sleep becomes induced upon the person, necessitating him or her to lessen motor activity and allow the body to restore and refresh itself.

Melatonin is also well known to boost up the body's immune system. It is found to be a powerful antioxidant that can protect the cells from being damaged.

In many cases, the inability to go to sleep and have sufficient and restful sleep is due to the diminished production of melatonin in the brain. Technological innovations paved the way for quite a lot of artificial lighting, which causes disruptions in the production of melatonin.

The production Melatonin sleep aid dietary supplements and melatonin sleeping aids are based on the idea that the functions of the natural melatonin hormone can be sustained out of synthetic melatonin. In this way, even with lots of lights that would usually interfere with natural melatonin production, people can still take melatonin supplements to increase the levels of it in their blood and provoke sleepiness.

If you are wondering what dosage is needed for melatonin sleep aid supplements to take effect, this is answered by a study conducted in Massachusetts's Institute of Technology. It was found that taking a small amount of melatonin sleep aid is much more effective. The recommended dose is roughly 0.3 milligrams.

What happens if there is already too much melatonin hormone in a person's brain? Then the person becomes immune to its effects. If the person continues taking high doses of melatonin for a few days, afterward, the sleep aid loses its effectiveness.

This goes without saying that melatonin sleep aid supplements even if declared very effective, becomes useless if not used properly, just like with other sleeping aid drugs.

Current Health Articles - Ways For Beautiful Sleep

Where are those old day?

The old days when you were a small child, and you used to fell asleep just as soon as the head hits the pillow? And that was awesome sleep because during those days, sleep was a sound sleep and you slept soundly through the night until morning. Like the song of Michael Learns to Rock:- Sleeping child or the sleep of those days is called "the sleep of the innocent". It has now become so difficult to sleep like those days, forget sleeping we just keep tossing turning on bed and just anxiety in our eyes and beautiful sleep nowhere to be found. How we wish we could sleep like that again?

Causes of Sleep Disorders:

• Adult responsibilities
• Stress and other worries
• Poor sleep habits like the tossing and turning, it is hard to return to a good night sleep.

Usage of Sleeping pills:

These days' lots of adults use prescription drugs to help them fall asleep, some are smart to practice "self medicate" that is alcohol and while others over-the-counter sleeping pills all in vain though trying to fall asleep. This may or may not be effective for short term but in long term harmful side effects and then more over more problems add on to cause more sleepless nights.

Struggling to sleep: If you are regularly struggling to have a proper sleep then you probably just need to learn how to fall asleep again!

Lets go back to basics!

Introducing the trainer none other the acclaimed and most revered and who better to consult than babies! After all, the babies are experts at sleeping (this is what they do best, do not your agree hundred percent?) So lets take some tips, guidelines and why not learn a little from them? What is that other then their age and natural body clock, that makes them such beautiful sleeping beauties?

The lessons begin:

• Routine - Babies sleep on their routine, reason is parents try very hard to get their children into an everyday routine of regular mealtimes, bedtimes, and bath times. So forming a routine is something to work towards.

Basically the reason of following routine could be so explained that child on a regular routine feels comfortable and is better able to "predict" what will happen next. The routine helps his body clock to begin the process of winding down, some short while ago before he actually gets to bed. Because babies mind knows that after supper comes his bath, then a bed-time story, and with a good night kiss. So as soon as his head hits the pillow, the dreams are awaiting.

Similarly you try and follow this example: Like start a night time routine for you. Make your evenings fairly predictable, on the lines of eating supper, taking a bath, and going to bed with a good night kiss. Follow this routine for three weeks or so by getting into bed at same time every night. Wear flannel pajamas intended for sleeping, wear comfortable nightwear.

• Exercise - Kids play all day and night, when an infant they used to move their limbs so much that by night they are ready for such a sweet sleep. Kids do not stop running around for a minute! How active they are! Well this does not mean you are not active or I am not suggesting that you run around wherever you go. What you can do is do regular physical exercise. This is one of the most effective way that aids sleep. And not only for sleep, exercising is good for health and has several good side effects. All you need to do is take up some sport, regularly go to the gym, or just take regular night walks. You wont regret it!

• Have peaceful evenings - Heard your parents saying "Calm down now, it is almost time for bed"? Or "You would better stop running around or you wont be able to fall asleep!"? This advice still works people. Those oldies are not wrong and their old is gold advice is so very true even in this century. Like your parents you also may be saying this to your children, but then why are you not following this very important advice? What do you do? You watch soccer, wrestling matches, horrible news, or thriller movies. Some are step ahead, they even bring work home and in their bedroom and may be on to their bed. Well, please follow that advice, do not bring work at home and if that do not do it in your bed room or in bed. And do not sleep watching the idiot box. Try to have a relaxing peaceful evening. Use aromatherapy especially lavender for it is wonderful soporific properties, aromatic candles and dim lights, slip into hot bath, get some massage and have a glass of warm milk before sleeping. All this will give you mind the cue and message that it is time to sleep. All these tips ate simple and some essential and easy way to put you in state of comfortable sleeping rather then tossing and turning on bed. The simple change of lifestyle and night time habit will reduce or even eliminate the severity of their sleeping disorders, usage of sleeping pills and their health shall also benefit. All you need to do is give all this lessons by kids a try. Maybe like them you will sleep too!

Good night and Sweet dreams

Natural Sleep Aids Versus The Sleeping Pill

In the early stages of people suffering from sleep disorders or insomnia, often times they resolve to trying sleeping pills or any other over-the-counter drugs that promise a quick fix. These medications may provide the necessary solution at first; however they do not necessarily cure the cause of insomnia that eventually become their crutch to lean on instead of a cure. The benefits derived from sleep medications are enough to consider only for a short period of time. Long-term solutions may involved changing lifestyle and going to the source and cause of your sleeplessness. Learning about medical treatment options will surely help you make an informed choice in your triumph over insomnia. Apart from the over-the-counter and prescription drugs, there are a handful of other options like natural sleep aids that will surely help you get that good night sleep you've always dreamed of.

We have already mentioned a little and some of the possible side effects and disadvantages of taking in prescribed and over-the-counter drugs to address your sleeping needs. Let us expand the list by giving more definite examples of the disadvantages of taking these drugs.

Fact is, drugs do not really cure insomnia. These drugs are for short-term use only and can often make the problem worse over longer periods of time. Taking these medicines for longer periods may develop the tendency to be drug tolerant. This means that, eventually, you may need to increase the dosage probably because your body is used to the drug itself. Sooner or later, your may find it hard to fall asleep without the drug hence you may become very dependent on the drug to put yourself to sleep.

These sleeping pills may vary in the length of action or effects to your body. Among the common complaints of people taking in these medicines include drowsiness. These pills often leave them feeling groggy and hung over the next day. This is mainly because these drugs, especially those containing benzodiazepines have longer duration of action. Apart from drowsiness, which may also affect your mental alertness during the day, some of the most common side effects of over-the-counter sleeping aids include dizziness, lack of coordination, forgetfulness, constipation, urinary retention, blurred vision, and dry mouth and throat. Withdrawal symptoms and other physical side effects may occur as well.

Another important caution that you should take note in taking any of the over-the-counter sleeping drugs is that these may cause adverse chemical reactions in your body. If you are already taking other drugs, these may also interact with those. So, it is important that you consult your physician before taking any of these sleeping drugs.

Again, medications may provide you with help in adjusting and dealing with sleeplessness. But it is important that you address the root cause of your insomnia. Lifestyle change or improvements are almost always important. As noted, sleep medications can actually reduce the quality of your sleep by reducing time you spend in deep sleep. What is important is that you commit to making your sleep habits and sleep environment more conducive to sleep. There are other options available for you like natural sleep aids (exercise, proper diet, herbal medicines, among others). With these, you can limit the effects of insomnia on your life.

Telltale Systemic Yeast Infection Symptoms

In this particular report we examine exactly what systemic yeast infection symptoms are.

The yeast microorganism can be observed naturally upon the skin, within the mouth area, vagina as well as the digestive tract of the majority of healthy females on the planet.

No damage is usually brought on by the yeast organism.

Friendly bacteria and also the immune system usually work together to maintain the levels of yeast under control.

If these conditions alter, yeast may begin to multiply uncontrollably, and a yeast infection might result.

Many components have an effect on an individual's susceptibility to yeast infections. Immune systems that have been weakened enables them to develop much more quickly.

Individuals will have a lot more difficulty preventing yeast infections when they have disorders such as AIDS or HIV.

Diabetics may have weakened immune systems also, and if their blood sugar levels are elevated, this could nurture the yeast even more and help them to multiply.

Immune suppressing drug users are likewise in danger from getting an infection.

Discover How One Woman Cured Her Systemic Yeast Infection

For some people stress and anxiety levels or an inadequate amount of sleep at night can have an effect on the functioning of one's immune system.

Wearing tight or wet clothing, or manufactured fabric also provides an environment more conducive to the overgrowth of yeast.

As with the diabetic group mentioned previously elevated blood sugar levels can certainly help the yeast fungus to flourish, so cut down on any excess sugar from your diet as well as refined food products.

When anti biotics attack bacteria they will wipe out the good in addition to the bad. The good bacteria control the rate of growth of yeast within us. Without it the yeast fungus has one less control to address.

There are many examples where individuals have contracted an infection once a treatment of antibiotics has been finished.

Some spermicidal lubricants and a few contraceptive pills can also raise the risk.

Common microbe infections such as a genital infection or thrush are far from usually that dangerous but a systemic infection is a lot more problematical. A systemic infection is one in which the fungi has invaded other parts of the body other than the genitals and vulva.

If you believe that you could have some systemic yeast infection warning signs, you need to see a doctor promptly that will help confirm the diagnosis.

On top of the regular infection warning signals the systemic type can possibly include a creamy colored discharge from the vagina.

Due to many disorders sharing similar symptoms then it can be difficult to get a correct diagnosis. Other symptoms often change from one person to another.

Pains in the belly and more gas than typical with no apparent reason.

The vagina and vulva may be purple in colour and enlarged along with the rectum.

Small cracks in the skin of the vagina may well appear as this sort of infection has a tendency to dry it out.

Even the rather simple job of walking could be sore.

It might be a very serious kind of issue if a systemic infection were to eventually migrate to the brain.

They are most commonly encountered in people who have diseases of the immune system or those who have diabetes.

As the bodies in such groups will have trouble fighting off a yeast population bloom they may also be at risk from other forms of yeast infections.

They may have more trouble getting rid of existing yeast infections as well, and can struggle with frequent infections.

These infections really needs to be treated at the earliest opportunity to stop them from getting more serious. In ordinary cases they may be more upsetting than dangerous but still have to be acted upon as quickly as practicable.

Insomnia Treatment - Is Your Doctor Always Right?

A lot of you can probably relate to this scenario. After working 10 hours of office routine work with stressful meetings and phone calls, you can finally manage to drive home in one piece. Your dog is barking and wiggling his tail to welcome you home and the baby is crying... A few hours later, you are lying awake no matter how hard you try. You mind just can't stop thinking about your client's call, or the presentation tomorrow. Day after day, this terrible routine develops what is often referred to insomnia. And you finally decide to seek a professional advice from your doctor for the insomnia treatment.

With just a few questions asking from your doctor about what might go wrong with your sleep pattern; you get yourself a prescription of Ambien, one of the most popular prescribed sleeping pills. After taking just this magic pill, you did indeed get your 8 hours sleep at night.

But are you really getting the 'Restful' sleep you supposed to get?

Did you really 'sleep' 8 hours?

And finally, did your doctor cure your insomnia for good with just a single prescription of the magic pill?

To answer these questions, let me give you a quick crash course about sleep.

In order to fall sleep, you need to go through 5 different stages of sleep. For the first and second stages of sleep, they are often referred to light sleep which you feel lightly awake and your mind begins to drift away from the reality. Then, you will enter to the deep sleep stages 3 and 4 and REM (Rapid Eye Movement). Basically, you must be able to enter to the first stage, then the second stage and so on. Deep sleep stage is where you get rejuvenated and make you feel refreshed the next morning.

Now you have some basic understanding of how sleep works, let's talk about what that magic pill, Ambien, does to your body. Ambien is one of the most popular Benzodiazepines (aka BZs) pill which most BZs were actually developed as anti-anxiety drugs, they simply have a side effect of making someone feel drowsy, and this is why doctors prescribe them.

Most BZs lose their effectiveness after 4 to 6 weeks, because your brain becomes habituated to their effects, unless you increase the dose you are taking. Ambien also causes high blood pressure, and should not be taken by anyone with heart problems.

The effects of BZs are WORSE than Insomnia Itself!

The reason why BZs can make you sleep is that the chemical will interrupt your brainwaves pattern and force your brain to enter stage 2 of sleep (light sleep). But your mind will tend to stay in stage 2 for a long time and hence, not getting enough deep sleep as a result.

That explains why you can get 8 hours of sleep after taking it. However, you often feel tired, and disoriented next morning due to lack of deep sleep.

As a matter of fact, BZs can actually help you resolve your insomnia problem for weeks, but not intend to or mean to 'cure' your insomnia for good as the drug itself can't really do that.

By the way, you will be shocked how many hours of education the doctors get about solving sleep disorder during their years of medical training, a measly 3 hours in average. So prescribing BZs like Ambien will be a quick fix for most doctors, especially the multi billion dollars drug companies often give pressure to them and free samples for doctors to give away to their patients. It's a simple win-win situation to them but a significant loss to your health.

So, is your doctor always right to solving your insomnia treatment? You are the judge.

Sleep Aides - The Pros and Cons

Sleep aides are prescription medications that promote sleep also known as hypnotics. Hypnotics are the most effective sleep aids available. If you suffer from insomnia, the medication prescribed will depend on your diagnosis, medical condition, use of alcohol or other drugs and age.

You may wonder why sleep aides are needed. Well, lifestyle is behind many sleep disorders. Excessive work, poor diet, stress, lack of exercise, or drugs and alcohol abuse are usually the problem. No wonder with so many people leading stressful lives sleep disorders continue to rise. With that rise, the market for sleep aides like LunaSom PM, Ambien, Lunesta and Rozerem continue to soar as well.

Cons

Worldwide we are playing a dangerous game by consuming more of these drugs each year. That is not to say that sleeping pills are not beneficial in some cases. However, you should be aware of the following:

* Sleeping pills reduce brain cell activity; thereby, affecting short term memory

* After several weeks of use, sleeping pills begin to lose their intensity, which leads many to up the dosage

* Sleeping aides treat only the symptoms of insomnia and do nothing to fight the source of sleeplessness

Pros

When you use sleeping pills they relax the body, allow you to get to sleep and then keep you in the deeper stages of sleep. Most people wake up feeling invigorated and refreshed.

The Bottom Line

How you feel and perform during the day is directly related to how much sleep you get the night before. If sleepiness gets in the way of your daily activities, more sleep each night will improve the quality of your daylight hours. In addition, insufficient sleep is associated with a number of diseases and conditions-such as diabetes, obesity, and depression. Not getting enough sleep is linked with the onset of these diseases and also may complicate their management and outcome.

People with only mild insomnia problems may be relying too heavily on pills and not trying to address their sleep problems with non-drug measures. The bottom line is this, whether it's a simple change in lifestyle that you need to make, or talk to your doctor about sleep aides available or other natural remedies - you just need to decide to today not to have another sleepless night.

Snoring - In Search For a Solution Part 1

Snoring occurs due to the partial blockage of your airway during sleep. When you sleep the muscles in your body relax and so do the muscles in your neck. Under such circumstances, the soft tissue in the upper part of the throat vibrates, which makes you snore.

Today people have started thinking seriously about snoring and are trying different snoring solutions. These snoring solutions are traditional home based remedies as well modern ones depending upon the need. The best and the safest snoring solution is changing your lifestyle. Actually today, most of the people do not take care of their health. Their meals are mainly junk food and fizzy drinks. All this is making us fat.

As we know, the main cause of snoring is obstruction in our breathing passage - and being overweight increases it. Hence the best snoring solution is to take care of one's weight. You should exercise daily. It is not necessary that you go for severe or strenuous exercises. Light exercises such as walking; swimming and cycling if done with a routine can be a great help.

Another easy snoring solution is abstaining from alcohol and tranquilizers before going to sleep. It has been seen that alcohol and sleeping pills make your muscles to relax more and as a result you snore. It is better to avoid alcohol at least five to six hours before going to sleep. Also activities like smoking makes you snore more. Smoking pushes the body to produce excessive mucus that causes nasal congestion and you snore.

One more easy snoring solution is to take care of your sleeping posture. People who have a habit to sleep on their back snore more. So try to sleep on your side or over your stomach. Lying on your back allows the mouth or throat tissue and tongue to fall down into the throat and block the airway. You should sleep with your bed tilted so that your head is raised a bit upwards. Sleeping with your head raised may take some of the pressure off the airway, making breathing easier and reducing snoring.

Burn Fat While You Sleep? Forget It

Please don't be taken in by ads that claim theit product will cause you to burn fat instead of sugar while you sleep. Even if the pills worked, you burn so few calories during sleep that it is irrelevant whether you are burning sugar or fat.

Your body burns primarily fat and sugar for energy. The harder you exercise, the more sugar your muscles use. You use the lowest percentage of fat when you exercise and the highest percentage when you sleep. Your body converts fat into sugar and sugar into fat, so the crucial factor is how many calories you burn, and not whether you burn more fat or sugar. For example, the average 150 pound person burns about 60 calories an hour during sleep, compared to more than 600 calories per hour while jogging. If you burn 80 percent fat during sleep, you will burn 48 calories of fat or one fifth of an ounce. If you burn 50 percent fat when you exercise, you will burn 1.3 ounces of fat per hour or more than six times as much.

There are many products on the market today that promise to help you lose weight. None will have any lasting effect unless they get you to exercise more and eat fewer calories. If you are serious about losing weight, learn to eat lots of vegetables, fruits, whole grains and beans; avoid concentrated sources of fats, especially saturated fats and partially hydrogenated oils; and stay away from refined carbohydrates (foods made with any type of flour, white rice or milled corn, and all added sugars). Start a vigorous exercise program that you can continue for the rest of your life. Forget about diet gimmicks; if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

Sleep Deprivation Effects - How Your Life Can Be Severely Affected by Sleep Deprivation

Not getting enough sleep can have an impact on several different areas of your life. Sleep deprivation effects are felt by those who suffer from sleep disorders, such as insomnia. These effects can interfere with your body and your brain's ability to function normally. They can also go beyond making daily life a struggle by putting you at greater risk of developing more serious disorders and health problems.

Both mental and physical fatigue are among the most commonly felt sleep deprivation effects. These feelings of weariness and exhaustion are the result of your mind and body not being given the chance to re-energize during the night. Instead of feeling refreshed after a full night's sleep, you'll find that you have trouble getting through the day. Mental fatigue leads to poor decision making and impaired problem-solving skills. Your performance at work could suffer greatly as a result. Physical fatigue will make your response times slower, which could be especially dangerous while you're behind the wheel of a vehicle.

Lack of sleep can also cause you to develop certain psychological problems, such as depression and anxiety disorders. These are associated with further complications that could make your life miserable and endanger your well-being. Aside from feeling overly tired from your sleep disorder, you could also find yourself feeling sad, losing interest in activities you used to enjoy, pulling away from other people, or developing fears that could lead to panic attacks. You would also have to undergo more extensive treatment in order to take care of both your sleep disorder and your psychological disorder.

There are also physical sleep deprivation effects that are linked to certain medical conditions. Overall, your immune system's response can be suppressed from a lack of sleep, which makes you more prone to infection and puts you at a higher risk of becoming ill. If you have a chronic condition such as heart disease, high blood pressure, or diabetes, the physical symptoms of these can become much more severe when coupled with sleep deprivation.

The mental and physical sleep deprivation effects that can result from leaving sleep disorders untreated should encourage you to seek treatment immediately. You could try sleeping pills or behavioral therapy, but if you would rather take a different approach to treating your condition, there are techniques known as brain entrainment that can be effective. These methods guide your brain into a more relaxed state at night so that you can sleep peacefully. These safe and effective forms of treatment can allow you to get a full night's rest from now on and the results can be seen very quickly indeed.

Pain - Five Ways to Get a Better Night's Sleep

Sleep is essential to our well-being as breathing, water, and air. So why does something that is so good for us sometimes play hard to get? Let's take a look.

According to the National Institutes of Health, more than 70 million Americans have a sleep problem. No matter what someone may tell you, including your learned medical practitioner, there is no magic formula for a good night's sleep. "Do whatever works for you," says Mark W. Mahowald, M.D., director of the Minnesota Regional Sleep Disorders Center as the Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis.

Here are 5 tips to help your get a good night's rest :

o Stay calm: If you have occasional trouble sleeping. "Insomnia is part of the human condition," says Dr. Mahowald. Chances are you'll be able to get through the day and believe it or not you'll sleep like a baby.

o Check your health: Many physical conditions such as sleep apnea can influence the quality of your sleep. Some medications can also disrupt sleep, so ask your doctor or pharmacist if this might be the case with you.

o Establish a sleep routine: Read a book, browse through catalogs, or take a warm bath. Go to bed at the same time every night and get up at the same time every day. A routine essentially trains your mind that it is time to sleep.

o Watch what your eat and drink: Because caffeine can linger in the body for three to seven hours, skip coffee, tea, and chocolate late in the day. Watch the alcohol: A few drinks may help you nod off, but you may awaken later or not sleep as deeply.

o Exercise regularly: It's good for your heart and eases stress. But if you find it hard to go to sleep right after a workout, wait at least an hour before turning in.

There your have it, no monumental changes in your lifestyle, no pills from the good 'ole doctor, I repeat...no pills; and who knows you may be well on your way to waking up each morning to a bright new day, refreshed and ready to go!

Curing Insomnia Without Pills - Natural Ways to Get More Sleep Each and Every Night

Whenever we have a problem with our body, many go to the doctor or the drug store in order to look for a cure. The problem is, many of these pharmaceutical cures only cover up the actual disease that we are dealing with. They may seem to take away some of the symptoms of the disease but they do not cure it. A perfect example of this is if we are dealing with insomnia. There are plenty of pills and medicines you can take which claim to help you to get a good nights sleep. But they might actually be robbing you of sleep.

If you truly want to get relief from your insomnia problems, you first need to find out what is actually at the root of the problem. Insomnia is not always a disease or disorder in and of itself. As a matter of fact, it is often a symptom of another underlying problem that we are dealing with. These problems can be anything from allergies to dehydration to elevated stress levels. Truly understanding what is at the root of the problem is your first step in being able to find a natural cure.

While you are looking for this natural cure, I'm sure that you would like to find a way to be able to fall asleep and stay asleep naturally. The easiest way to do this is by boosting the levels of melatonin in your body. You can take natural melatonin supplements but you may also be able to increase the amount of this hormone that is released into your body. The way that this is done is by increasing the tryptophan levels in our body, a natural way of triggering melatonin production. Tryptophan is available in warm milk so, believe it or not, drinking a glass of warm milk before bed can really help you to sleep better.

Curing insomnia without pills and without any kind of pharmaceutical help whatsoever is the only way for you to truly be free of this problem once and for all. Although the natural cures are going to differ from individual to individual, bringing your body back into balance and helping you to get a good nights sleep is worth any effort that needs to be put into the search.

Does Sleep Deprivation Lead to Insanity?

One of the biggest misconceptions about sleep is that it if you go for a couple of days with no sleep, you will end up losing your sanity. Eye opening discoveries were made a few years ago, and this has changed this great misunderstanding about sleep.

A man named Robert McDonald holds the world record for having stayed up for almost nineteen days with no sleep. All that was reported was extreme drowsiness, and intense difficulty with concentration. Another person by the name of Randy Gardener went without sleep for eleven days and again the same was reported.

These cases cleared the biggest misconception about sleep, which was that sleep deprivation leads to insanity. It is clear that sleep deprivation does not lead to you losing your sanity but in fact here is a really surprising fact for you. In a recent study on over one million participants, it was discovered that those who slept less, actually went on to live a longer life. This excludes the extra time gained by sleeping less.

In some cases, lack of sleep was reported as a major problem. For example, many insomniacs experience hallucinations, slow speech, movement, reactions and poor concentration. This however does not confirm that lack of sleep can lead to insanity. Hallucinations and other signs of lack of sleep mentioned above are temporary and can be cured upon a good days sleep.

One astonishing discovery made recently on the aspect of sleep is that sleep interferes with memory. Memory has a very clear link with sleep. An experiment conducted on individuals who had not gone to sleep for nearly two days showed that their memory retention on identifying individual faces was weak and difficult for the subject. However the subjects were able to distinguish familiar faces from the unfamiliar ones with a positive outcome. This in some way can be the reason from where, the false theory of insufficient sleep can lead to insanity, may have been derived.

Many people today complain from the lack of sleep and blame many of their health problems due to the insufficient sleep. Experts argue that any association between sleep and health problems almost always emerge weak at best and could without difficulty be explained by other causes.

The Importance Of Prayer And Meditation With God

Prayer and meditation have been proven in multiple settings to have a profound influence on peoples health and especially on hospital patients. People who pray and meditate daily have shown marked decreases in stress hormone levels. They have also been shown to age better, live longer, and handle adversity far better. Basically, people that believe in God and pray consistently are happier and have a better quality of life. Why is this?

People that pray and meditate feel a sense of belonging. They are not alone to face the perils of this world. All major religions believe in a God and that through this prayer and meditation they can communicate with God. They can ask for forgiveness and ask for help. It has long been shown by psychologists and psychiatrists that it is essential to have a sense of belonging for proper mental health. People that are loners by nature tend to die early, not look and feel as healthy, and do not handle adversity and stress well. They tend to hold it in and then blow up on those that are actually trying to help them.

Prayer and meditation let one detoxify their body and mind of toxic thoughts. Just like toxins we are familiar with, toxic thoughts can bring on depression, dark thoughts, hatred, mental illness and even suicide. Toxic thoughts and being alone are very negative for good mental health. By praying and meditating we are distressing our bodies and learning to put ourselves and our minds in a relaxed state. The best thing is that prayer and mediation are free. You can do it anywhere at anytime, in an elevator, in a quiet room, before going to sleep at night, the possibilities are endless. Prayer will help clean your mind of worry and stressful thoughts and replace them with thoughts of hope and serenity. Prayer before bedtime has been proven to reduce or entirely eliminate the need for sleep pills altogether in some cases.

Prayer should not be thought of as a chore. It can be as simple as the infamous Lords Prayer:

Our Father, who art in heaven, Hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, On earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, As we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation,
But deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen.

Basically in the Lords Prayer one is asking for forgiveness, for deliverance, guidance and that God's will be done. In Matthew 7:11 it says:

So if you, weak mortals that you are, are capable of making good gifts to your children, do not you think your spiritual Father will give even better gifts to those who ask him?

We need to realize that regardless of our religion, God is infinitesimally smarter beyond any human comprehension and knows what is best for each and every one of us. God may not always seem to answer our prayers in the way we would like, but that does not mean he does not hear us. God gave us the gift of prayer so that not only could we talk to him, but so we could heal our bodies and better cope with the stresses of daily life. Through our prayer and meditation we can learn patience, forgiveness, hope, love and true happiness. This is why some biblical scholars say prayer is Gods greatest gift to mankind.

Should You Consider Taking Sleep Pills?

And this is the question. Many sleep pills are pervading the market with promises of being safe and guaranteed effective. Would you take the plunge and consider taking them?

If you cannot sleep then you are, not surprisingly, in good company. Various studies concerning this topic suggest that about 40% of the American population is suffering from insomnia, at least at one point in their lives. Moreover, in order to help them catch on their z's these legions of red-eyed people spend billions of dollars buying sleeping pills.

However, there have also been studies and many various reports as to the dire effects of sleeping pills on the health condition. These reports and studies are enough to form most people's opinions, even those not actually affected with sleeplessness that these sleep pills do not exactly help ensure a blissful night of sleep.

Furthermore, sleep experts are saying that even if the newest sleep medicines introduced are relatively more effective and safer than the previous ones, still, no sleep pill can be right for everyone. These sleeping pills target the brain in a totally different manner that do not really help in getting rid of the insomnia symptoms and may even worsen the sleeping problem.

If you are of the red-eyed legion, what do you make of all this?

Well, before making your decision, it is important to assess yourself first and consider all the significant points in taking of sleeping pills so that you would know what you would be risking.

Here are the following considerations that you must think about:

- If you are suffering too much and even your daytime life is terribly affected by the symptoms of your insomnia, taking sleeping pills would be able to give you a quick relief.

- Taking sleep medicines may work well, but only on a short period basis, as long as you combine it with necessary improvements to your sleep habits and necessary changes in your lifestyle.

- For a short period, it can be safe enough for you to try sleep pills, while coping with the various problems connected with your lifestyle and habits, which has large impact on your insomnia troubles.

- There have been reports than some types of sleep medicines result to unpleasant effects in the daytime like drowsiness or grogginess and dizziness.

- Remember that through prolonged use or otherwise, there are sleep medicine types that can become easily tolerated by your body. Once this happens, the dose you are taking would not be as effective as before and you would need to increase your dosage but this could be dangerous for your body.

- It is a reality that there are sleeping pills with addictive properties. After taking them for a certain period, your body would start demanding for higher doses.

- Some sleeping medicines cause withdrawal symptoms when the insomnia sufferer stops using them already.

- There are a lot of alternative and natural remedies you can take, like undergoing behavioral therapies and instilling lifestyle changes. These things could be more effective to help you achieve a healthy and refreshing sleep, instead of having to take sleep medicines.
